Athenian Perspectives: Life in Cambodia and Vietnam Photography Exhibit

In March 2013, I traveled to Cambodia and Vietnam with 14 high school students from The Athenian School. We were joined by my colleague, Jim Sternberg, and professional photographer, John Rizzo, while in Cambodia. Several students focused on photography during the trip. Upon return, students submitted photos to be included in our gallery exhibit, Athenian Perspectives: Life in Cambodia and Vietnam. Students helped mat and frame photos, sold note cards and shared their experiences from the trip at a presentation on opening night.

The show includes 45 pieces of artwork from 11 students, John Rizzo and myself. It is currently up at The Village Theater Art Gallery, 233 Front Street, Danville California. The show runs October 11-November 9.  Proceeds from the sale of note cards and artwork in the gallery will go to the primary school we visited outside of Siem Reap, Cambodia. To date, we have raised over $2,000 for the school which will be used to purchase school supplies and uniforms for the students.

The exhibit has been featured in the Contra Costa Times, San Jose Mercury News and Danville Express and more info is here and here.
